I recommend staying somewhere in the general vicinity of Chapinero. It is probaly the safest and coolest area of the city. Zona Rosa / Zona T is the party area, and Zona G is also a good area to stay. La Candelaria is fun to explore during the day but dodgier at night and so i don’t recommend you stay there. I would avoid the Santa Fe area at night and definitely don’t go in to the Egipto Barrio or anything east of that (away from the city). In general, the more “dangerous” areas of the city are the more south you go. It can also get sketchy near avenida caracas which is one of the main areas cutting central Bogota in half.
