Driving

IF you plan on driving while abroad then you should definitely get an International Drivers Permit (IDP) before you leave. Go to AAA car rental anywhere in the US and bring your license and passport and pay a $20 dollar fee and they will just give you the international permit, you don’t need to take a test or anything. Not having the permit won’t always stop you from renting a motor vehicle, but if you were to get stopped by the police this help prevents hefty fines.

In addition, the country your visiting may drive on a different side of the road as the one you’re used to. As a general rule of thumb, if they were at some point, or are still a part of the UK, then they most likely drive on the left hand side of the road. If not, they drive on the right hand side. This isn’t always the case, so be sure to check before you go.

Ride Sharing

Depending on what country you’re visiting, certain Ride Sharing companies may or may not be present or accepted in the country. For example, Uber is not as common in Asia. There are three main internationally accepted Ride Sharing companies and I recommend downloading all three of the apps so you are covered no matter where you travel to.

  1. Uber
  2. Grab
  3. DiDi
