As an FYI Chifa is Peruvian-Chinese fusion cuisine—think Cantonese flavors with Peruvian ingredients—while Nikkei is a vibrant blend of Japanese and Peruvian food. Both are unique to Peru; in Lima, which come from large influx in respective asian populations and I encourage you to try while in Peru. If i’m being honest, the Chifa was pretty average and holds nothing on US style Chinese food (or actual Chinese food in HK/China/Macau/Taiwain/Singapore), but the Nikkei is AMAZING.
Peru is still a fairly safe country when compared to the rest of LATAM, but it’s important to note crime has been going up as a result of the degradation of the legal and political system, increased pressure from Colombian Cartels, and Venezuelan migrants. When visiting, i recommend staying in one of these three areas, San Isidro, Barranco or Miraflores, but for the prettiest and safest place to be I recommend Miraflores.
