Similar to HK, Macau is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China. They speak Cantonese, and maintain their own border control, police, and currency. Macau was a prior Portuguese colony until1999 when it was handed back to the Chinese. Because of this, many of the residents still speak Portuguese. There are also many Portuguese themed restaurants, hotels, and casinos.One of the biggest staples for food in Macau are Portuguese Egg Tarts.You can now drive across to Macau from Hong Kong and vice versa from the newly created Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge.
